It was our first day to serve at the Iglesia San Antiono.
Our team arrived to help in two areas:
1) Assisting the pastors and church leaders in continuing the construction of the new church building.
2) Leading a VBS program for the neighborhood children.
Riding to la iglesia.
Decorating the church with balloons.
You can't escape Iowan influence. This cow was keeping watch over the soccer game!
Amber playing with the kids and pretending to scare them.
Today we had 20-25 kids at each VBS (we are leading a VBS in the morning and one in the afternoon).
Music time!
Craft time
Today we started helping with continuing the building of the church wall.
It reminds me so much of Nehemiah.
If you read in Nehemiah 3, each person did their part "Shallum...repaired the Fountain Gate... After him Nehemiah ...repaired to a point...After him the Levites repaired; Rehum...repaired for his district..."
Each group, each person... doing his/her part to complete the wall.
Nehemiah reminds me too of the opposition faced in the rebuilding. Though we may not face the same opposition, his words still ring true, (4;14) "Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your waives, and your homes."
This place we are serving - these are our people.
They are worth fighting for in prayer, standing alongside them in building the wall, and rejoicing with them when God shows up and shows off.
And daily, the wall will be added to until its completion.
Can you see the progress?
In one day, a portion of the wall was completed.
I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!
Note: Thank you for praying for rest! We all had a great night of sleep last night!
It was a HUGE help in today and we are getting ready for another great night of sleep tonight!
