Our Journey Back to the States

Our last day of travel was a long one and involved waking up in the dead of the night, a flight to Panama, a long layover to enjoy some time for being tourists in Panama, and then another flight to Chicago.

The moon was shining bright as we arose for our very early airport departure.

Kari Beth was so special she got a hand-written ticket for our first flight.
Fancy!

Amber had a fight with the trashcan.

Some early morning coffee was needed for those who consume it.

Our last goodbyes and hugs were given to our hosts.
Words are incapable of describing our incredible gratitude and love we have for these incredible people.

The Lord was so sweet and our flight to Panama was minimally occupied. This was our gate waiting area prior to boarding. We each had our own row if we wanted it! YES!

Sleep was a precious commodity and to be taken wherever it was possible.

The sunrise from the air was incredible!

First stop in Panama - the infamous Panama Canal.

Standing at the observation deck at the Miraflores Locks.
These locks are the last set on the Pacific Ocean side of the canal.

We look pretty good considering our short night of sleep!

Next stop - lunch in Casco Viejo.
Beautiful architecture.

There was seafood loving at Casablanca during lunch!

And some delicious limonada to enjoy as well!

These girls were so excited about this palm tree, small though it may be!

Ending our time in Panama with some amazing ice cream!

We headed back to the airport for our departure to Chicago to finish this journey and to fall gratefully into soft beds for some much needed sleep.
